Job Summary
Eurogamer’s News Editor will lead and shape daily news coverage, coordinate with the editorial team to report and source stories, and ensure accurate, timely copy that meets editorial standards. The role requires editing stories written by others, conducting interviews (in-person at events or remotely), building sources to break stories first, and embedding within game communities to spot potential stories. You’ll work in our CMS to ensure high presentation quality, collaborate across departments, and maintain a fresh voice in game journalism while meeting tight deadlines. The position demands senior editorial experience (section editor/news editor or equivalent) with a track record of original, publish-ready news writing, ideally within the games sector, and a willingness to work a hybrid schedule from our London office.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable talent for good reporting
- Ability to unearth and tell interesting, original stories about games and their communities
- Ability to quickly and accurately edit news reporting, focusing on high standards and astute angles and headlines
- Willingness to secure on- and off-diary interviews and ask tough questions
- Potentially encyclopedic knowledge of video games from a range of genres
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of determination and drive
- Positive attitude and a team mentality
- A passion for and excitement about video games and gaming culture
