Job Summary
News Anchor serves as the primary presenter of news stories across platforms, delivering content clearly and engagingly while ensuring journalistic integrity and production quality. Responsibilities include writing and delivering stories concisely, assisting with writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating news programming, acting as a field reporter as assigned, conducting interviews, responding to breaking news, participating in promotional activities, editing video clips, writing for website/eMedia platforms, and engaging with viewers on social media. Requires strong English communication skills, extensive newsroom experience, leadership and mentoring abilities, proficiency with office equipment, ability to meet deadlines, and flexibility to work any shift. Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field and minimum five years’ experience preferred; valid driver’s license and excellent on-air presence are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- Fluency in English
- Minimum five years’ experience in news reporting or anchoring
- Superior on-air presence
- Excellent news judgment with expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues
- Experience guiding, directing and motivating others
- Ability to coach, mentor or help others to improve knowledge or skills
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks
- Ability to listen effectively to understand problems and communicate with a team
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Flexibility to work any shift
