Job Summary
Perform conscious sedation and MAC anesthesia on outpatient and inpatient cases, including vascular, general surgery, gynecology, and orthopedic procedures. Manage patient airways, administer pre-anesthetic medications, and handle emergency situations using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques. Document pre-anesthetic assessments, obtain informed consent, and discharge patients from the post-anesthesia care area with follow-up evaluations. This PRN position at a local community hospital in Cocke County, TN, offers day shift and night/weekend call options for those who wish to take call. Professional liability is covered by LifeLinc.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing
- Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor
- Successfully completed the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Council on Certification or its predecessor
- At least two years of independent experience
- ACLS/BLS/PALS certification
- Must be able to read and write English
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors, patients, patient's family and other employees of organization
- Able to work in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ensures and adheres to strict confidentiality when handling patient information, according to the HIPAA Privacy Act and hospital policy and procedure regarding confidentiality
- Complies with all information security practices
- Takes annual HIPAA compliance exam
