Job Summary
Newport Aquarium is seeking a part-time Events Dishwasher / Busser to support catering events. Major duties include maintaining cleanliness and order in the kitchen, storage areas, dining room, and dishwashing station; emptying trash; washing dishes, flatware, pots, and pans; ensuring dish machine operability; bussing tables and stocking; sanitizing tables and counters; and assisting guests by keeping dining areas neat and orderly. Staff must follow state/local health regulations and ServSafe guidelines, work with urgency in a high-volume environment, and be able to lift up to 30 pounds with or without assistance. Expected evenings and weekends with flexible scheduling; background check required. Opportunities for growth through GrowU programs are noted in the benefits section.
Required Qualifications
- Must be self-motivated and disciplined
- Must have professional appearance with good personal hygiene
- Must be sensitive to the needs of our Guests and feel empowered to act to meet their needs within company guidelines
- Must be able to work with a sense of urgency in a high-volume environment
- Able to display and live out our Lead with Love principles strongly rooted in the company culture by being: patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, and dedicated
- Must have manual dexterity necessary to complete all job duties
- Able to comprehend instructions in English and retain information
- Able to maintain dependable work attendance and flexibility with assigned work schedules including any required evenings, weekends and holidays
- Ability to tolerate approved detergents and chemicals necessary clean/sanitize equipment and environment
- Able to accommodate a large number of guests at one time, changes in work schedule and job assignments
- Able to lift 30 pounds with or without 2-person lift. 30+ pounds require a 2-person lift
- Must comply with all Health Department, ServSafe, and/or company regulations pertaining to safe food handling procedures and practices
