Job Summary
Newport Aquarium Café Cook handles food preparation across meat, seafood, poultry, and vegetables, supports guest service and smooth café operations, maintains sanitary kitchen standards, and follows safety protocols while working primarily day shifts. The role involves setting up stations, assisting guests, cooperating with team members, handling inventory, and performing basic Food and Beverage department duties including guest transactions, food prep, and cleaning the lobby/café. Requires 18+ years old, weekend/holiday/evening availability, ability to lift 25 pounds, and adherence to sanitary handling procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 yeas old or older
- Previous Food and Beverage experience preferred
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays and evenings
- Must know and follow sanitary food handling procedures
- Friendly, outgoing and proactive approach to all aspects of position
- Ability to learn all facets of the Food and Beverage operations
- Ability to work effectively with all members of the team and always maintain a proper attitude
- Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check
- Ability to remain on your feet for long periods, climb stairs, bend and stoop
- Physical strength, including the ability to lift 25 pounds
- Exposure to nut allergens, inclement weather, dust, potentially dangerous animal species, and potentially dangerous machinery, restraint devices and toxic chemicals and/or drugs
- Occasional use of protective clothing or equipment such as goggles, mask, gloves, and gowns
