Job Summary
Conduct newborn hearing screens in hospital settings, evaluating patient readiness and collecting demographic data for each eligible baby. Perform screens efficiently while providing education to parents on the importance of early intervention and result management. Upload all screen results, billing, and state reporting by shift end, ensuring documentation protocols are followed and stats are reconciled. Notify supervisors of missed or final refer cases and schedule outpatient appointments where appropriate. Comply with all safety protocols, vaccinations, and facility policies while maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating sensitivity with families. Requires current CPR certification, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility to work weekends and national holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Current CPR Certification or must obtain upon offer
- Flexibility to work on weekends and national holidays
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks and assignments
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk frequently (95% of shift)
- Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds frequently
- Computer proficiency and ability to perform accurate data entry
Desired Qualifications
- One to three months of previous experience with newborns and in a medical setting
