Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive assessments of newborn health status from admission to discharge, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety. Independently administer medications per licensure authority while assessing and documenting effects in a timely manner. Plan individualized, age-specific care using current scientific knowledge and incorporate data from the multi-disciplinary team to assure continuity. Identify and prioritize patient problems based on subjective and objective assessment data, implementing nursing interventions to meet family-centered health care needs. Evaluate patient and family teaching outcomes and revise the care plan in collaboration with other team members to promote desired outcomes. Serve as an advocate for the patient and family, preparing them for discharge and obtaining feedback to promote positive satisfaction. Work collaboratively with unlicensed assistive healthcare providers under appropriate monitoring and delegation to assure safe patient care delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
  • Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Two years of hospital patient care experience
  • Successful completion of the Nurse Residency program

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
