Job Summary
Operate a round knife, also known as a fleshing wheel, to shave down and detail animal skins after they have been pickled. Flesh down and detail skins following soaking, turn faces, and remove toe bones using a scalpel. Maintain safety protocols by wearing cut-resistant gloves and safety glasses, and locate MSDS sheets to understand chemical information. Adhere to the hazard communication program and meet expectations within the 2-Year Progression Guideline. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors. This full-time hourly role offers two schedule options: four 10-hour days Tues-Fri or five 8-hour days Mon-Fri, with voluntary and sometimes mandatory overtime available.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age to work on shop floor of tanning industry
- Must be able to stand for extensive periods of time
- Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds of force frequently
- Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds of force occasionally
- Must be able to bend
- Must be able to perform repetitive motion
- Must be willing to work full-time hourly position
- Must be willing to work four 10-hour days, Tues-Fri from 5:00am until 3:30pm
- Must be willing to work five 8-hour days, Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm
- Must be willing to work shifts that may vary per management discretion
- Must be willing to work voluntary overtime
- Must be willing to work mandatory overtime
- Must be able to wear cut resistant gloves and safety glasses in production areas at all times
- Must be aware of where the MSDS sheets are and how to read them
- Must abide by the hazard communication program and understand the chemical information sheets
