Job Summary
NEW-Python/DevOps Engineer — Senior software engineer role based in Columbia, MD focusing on Python development, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices. Responsibilities include building and maintaining scalable Python applications, APIs, and microservices; designing and managing cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure); implementing CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment; optimizing performance, scalability, and reliability in cloud environments; collaborating with product, QA, and data teams to align infrastructure with business needs. Required skills include production-grade Python development, cloud hosting (AWS/Azure), Docker/Kubernetes deployment, Git, and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence). Nice-to-haves include additional languages (Python, Go, Java), cloud networking (VPC, VPN, Load Balancers), cloud certifications, data engineering experience, container security, and data storage familiarity. The role requires 12 years of experience or 4 extra years in lieu of a BS, a BS in a technical discipline, and is 100% on-site in Columbia, MD. Applicants must meet security clearance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Production-grade software development experience in Python
- Experience with deployment and management of services in cloud-based hosting environments such as AWS/Azure
- Service containerization and deployment with Docker/Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Git
- Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence)
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or Microsoft Azure certifications
- Experience with data engineering or managing large-scale data pipelines
- Experience in container security or securing Kubernetes clusters and workloads
- Familiarity with data storage systems (relational, NoSQL, data lakes)
- YOE requirement: 12 yrs., B.S. in a technical discipline or 4 additional yrs. in place of B.S.
