Job Summary
Coordinate all incoming new patient referrals by processing, scheduling, and verifying appointment information while ensuring chart accuracy and insurance authorization. Register patients in the EMR system, mail new patient packets, and transcribe external referrals into the electronic medical record. Explain registration procedures and financial policies to patients, answer telephone inquiries professionally, and support co-workers as needed. Maintain strong working relationships with office staff and physicians while adhering to organizational scheduling protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- At least three months related experience (e.g., health care setting, customer service, etc.)
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Some experience with medical terminology
- Understanding of medical insurance process
- Ability to understand or quickly learn about the differences between and among patients with private insurance, Medicare, Workers' Compensation and self-paying patients
- Proof of identity and legal authority to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
- Six months related experience (e.g., health care setting, customer service, etc.)
- Bilingual
