Job Summary
Direct patient care for End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients by implementing treatment prescriptions, monitoring access flow, and adjusting therapy plans as needed. Supervise Patient Care Technicians and other direct care staff, delegating tasks and assessing daily patient needs to ensure safe and effective delivery of chronic hemodialysis therapy. Provide ongoing education to patients and families regarding renal disease, vascular access, medication compliance, and laboratory values. Manage laboratory operations by transcribing physician orders, preparing requisitions, and reporting abnormal results to the physician. Maintain accurate documentation of treatment parameters, vital signs, and patient status in the Medical Information System while enforcing all facility policies and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited nursing program within the past 12 months
- Required to obtain nursing license and registration within the timeline defined by state regulations, or within 90 days of hire, whichever occurs first
- Current appropriate state Temporary Permit
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Capable of working in a challenging environment which requires the ability to handle demanding situations, multitasking, and remaining flexible to changing needs
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Must be able to lift 200 lbs. with assistance
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to bend over
- Employees are required to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment
