Job Summary
Perform high-quality diagnostic imaging exams using specialized equipment while verifying patient identification, preparing patients, and evaluating images for quality and accuracy. Adhere to radiation safety standards, infection control protocols, and established protocols for medical necessity, coding, and quality control. Operate imaging equipment and information systems effectively, maintain accurate documentation, and assist with training students and mentoring fellow technologists. Provide patient education, ensure comfort, and address concerns while responding effectively to emergent situations. Maintain ARRT certification, current state license, and BLS certification. Located at St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, with 40 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- ARRT (R) certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- Current Radiologic Technologist license in the state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and imaging techniques
- Image evaluation and quality assessment
- Proficient in equipment operation and electronic imaging systems
- Understanding of contrast protocols
- Ability to respond effectively in emergent situations
- Strong independent work ethic with a collaborative team mindset
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and patient-centered environment
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
