Job Summary
Direct patient care for End Stage Renal Disease patients by delivering safe hemodialysis therapy, implementing treatment prescriptions, and monitoring patient response to adjustments. Delegate tasks to Patient Care Technicians, LVNs, and assistants while assessing daily needs and developing appropriate assignments. Provide ongoing education on renal disease, vascular access, diet, and medication compliance, and document all interventions, lab results, and treatment parameters in the Medical Information System. Maintain a clean, sanitary environment, troubleshoot access flow issues, and enforce all facility policies and regulatory standards. Work in a challenging healthcare setting requiring heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and multitasking in compliance with state licensing requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited nursing program within the past 12 months
- Required to obtain nursing license and registration within the timeline defined by state regulations, or within 90 days of hire, whichever occurs first
- Current appropriate state Temporary Permit
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Capable of working in a challenging environment which requires the ability to handle demanding situations, multitasking, and remaining flexible to changing needs
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- The position provides direct patient care that regularly involves heavy lifting and moving of patients and assisting with ambulation
- This position requires frequent, prolonged periods of standing and the employee must be able to bend over
- The employee may occasionally be required to move, with assistance, machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs.
- The employee may lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs. up as high as 5 feet
- Employees are required to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment
