The Graduate Nurse provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within established nursing standards after completing a nursing program and before licensure. The role requires obtaining licensure within 90 days of graduation to remain employed in the Missouri health system. Responsibilities include educating patients and families on illness/injury management and post-treatment home care, applying critical thinking to assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, developing and implementing individualized plans of care with the healthcare team, promoting patient and family-centered care, evaluating responses and adjusting plans, and participating in patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
