New Grad Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Nursing Unit

New Grad Registered Nurse (RN) on the Medical Nursing Unit provides patient care under supervision, assesses and documents plans of care, coordinates with the healthcare team, may act as Charge Nurse, and supervises non-RN personnel. Responsibilities include ongoing assessment of physical and psychosocial condition, developing and communicating plans of care with patient and family involvement, implementing and coordinating care, evaluating outcomes and readiness for discharge, providing education, and meeting performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, and resource utilization. Demonstrates competency in neuro patient care, neuro assessment, airway management for neuro patients, and care during neuro procedures, including endotracheal suctioning and care of patients on ventilators. Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program and Connecticut RN licensure; neonatal ICU experience (1 year) preferred. Proficiency with electronic medical records and internet literature searches is expected.
