Job Summary
The Senior Metallurgist will provide technical leadership to optimize metallurgical processes and support continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities include leading process optimization efforts, monitoring metallurgical performance, troubleshooting issues, managing projects, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or related field and extensive experience in metallurgical operations. Preferred skills include familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean, advanced process modeling, and knowledge of emissions control technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in metallurgical operations, with a strong preference for experience in roasting, calcine leaching, or refractory gold processing
- Solid understanding of roasting chemistry, calcine handling, leaching, and CIL processes
- Proficiency in data analysis, process control systems, and metallurgical accounting
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with operational improvement frameworks like Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing
- Knowledge of advanced process modeling tools (e.g., METSIM, PI ProcessBook)
- Hands-on experience with metallurgical test work and pilot-scale trials
- Understanding of wear-resistant materials and their application in refractory gold processing
- Knowledge of gas handling, emissions control technologies and environmental compliance in metallurgical operations
