Neurosurgery Physician Associate

Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic test interpretation for neurosurgical patients, including new clinic visits and follow-ups. Perform as the first assistant on craniotomies, spinal procedures, and peripheral nerve cases while conducting hospital rounds across intensive care units. Formulate differential and working diagnoses, write orders, maintain accurate patient records, and provide education to patients and families. May prescribe medication for central and peripheral nervous system conditions under physician supervision and participate in insurance authorization. Requires current Florida licensure, DEA registration, BLS certification, and willingness to travel across multiple locations.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in an accredited physician assistant program
- Completed an educational program for physician assistants approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant or its predecessor or successor organization
- Current licensure with Florida Board of Medical Examiners in good standing to practice as a Physician Assistant
- Current state and federal DEA registration
- American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- BLS Recertification every two years
- Be a graduate Physician Assistant qualified by academic and practical education to provide patient services as a physician extender under the supervision of a physician
- Be a graduate of a Physician Associate Training Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or its predecessors, and being acceptable to the Surgeon General
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
- Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA)
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, and bend
- Must be available for travel to all locations (Delray Beach, Lake Worth, Palm Beach Gardens, Stuart, Hollywood, Boca & if necessary, hospitals and surgery centers)
Desired Qualifications
- Fluent in Spanish
- Willing to assist in surgical procedures
- Have at least one (1) year of orthopedic spine, neurosurgical clinical, or pain management experience
- ACLS certification
