Job Summary
Conduct in-person patient care during Neurosurgeon clinic hours and the elective OR schedule on weekdays, providing first assist support in the Operating Room for neurosurgical procedures. Manage post-operative care, lead rounds, and perform pre-operative assessments while communicating treatment plans to patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team. Provide coverage for inpatient consults and rounding as needed at Penrose Hospital. Work a minimum of 32 hours per week in a collaborative, high-acuity environment where you serve as the primary guide for patients recovering from neurosurgery.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Active Physician Assistant (PA) license or Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the State of Colorado
- Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) certification (NCCPA) or Nurse Practitioner board certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association)
- Provide in-person patient care during typical Neurosurgeon clinic hours and elective OR schedule on weekdays (minimum of 32 hours/week)
- Provide first assist support in the Operating Room for neurosurgical procedures
- Provide coverage for Inpatient consults and rounding as needed at Penrose Hospital
- Conduct pre-operative assessments, patient education, and post-operative management
- Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary care team regarding treatment plans and progress
Desired Qualifications
- 2 (+) Years Of Experience In surgical departments with surgical experience
- Neurosurgery and Operating Room (OR) first assist experience strongly preferred
- NP candidates must have documented surgical first assist experience
