Job Summary
Lead the provision of patient care utilizing the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code, and Scope & Standards. Effectively delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members while assuming accountability for quality patient outcomes. Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other groups or disciplines. Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to be self directed
- Demonstrate good judgement
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Leadership skills
- Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
- Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
- Occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Experience directly supervising or managing others
- Certification in clinical specialty area
