Job Summary
Support the patient and provider throughout the visit by ensuring both are prepared and answering patient questions before they leave. Provide excellent patient service through effective communication over the phone and in person, while accessing data systems to document pertinent medical information and complete appropriate registration. Maintain clinical knowledge and technical skills through personal professional development, adapting behavior to specific patient populations and respecting privacy. Comply with all policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, including Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing programs if working in an occupational health clinic. Handle other duties as assigned effectively and efficiently within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Experience working with and maintaining confidential information
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Clinical knowledge
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
- Occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a formal medical assistant training program
