Job Summary
Deliver direct patient care including IV therapy under the direction of a registered nurse, utilizing the nursing process for data gathering, planning, and evaluation. Assist ancillary nursing staff, interact with the multidisciplinary team, and manage personal professional development while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Adapt to rapid changes in unit needs and communicate effectively with patients, families, and co-workers to ensure a quality patient experience. Handle physical demands involving lifting up to 100 pounds and exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications. Requires a current LPN license and BLS certification; preferred IV therapy credentials. Located in Ochsner Health facilities in the Gulf South.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current licensed practical nursing (LPN) license in state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Self directed
- Good judgement
- Good interpersonal and delegation skills
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care
- Ability to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all patients, guests, family members and co-workers
- Ability to adapt to rapid change in a positive manner
- Ability to manage personal professional development
- Ability to maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials
- Ability to remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements

- Ability to report patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns
- Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally
