Job Summary
The Neuro Sonographer role involves performing ultrasounds on the brain, nervous system, and spine using specialized equipment, such as a Transcranial Doppler (TCD), to assess blood flow and diagnose neurological conditions including strokes, tumors, or aneurysms. Key responsibilities include preparing and comforting patients for exams, operating advanced ultrasound equipment, analyzing and interpreting ultrasound data, documenting findings accurately, collaborating with healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care, and maintaining diagnostic equipment. A strong knowledge of neuroanatomy and excellent communication skills are essential for this position.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification with at least two sonographer specialties
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
- One year of experience in a hospital/healthcare environment in the performance of Specialized Diagnostic Medical Sonography

- Experience with TCD
- Experience with Carotid Duplex
- Experience with Vasospasm or Emboli Detection
