Job Summary
Network Systems Engineer (Pre-Sales) at Arista Networks in the Albany/Syracuse region. Act as a trusted advisor to customers, gathering requirements and identifying opportunities with existing and new clients. Collaborate with Account Managers to understand enterprise and commercial clients, conduct whiteboard network architectural reviews, and deliver product presentations for Open Networking Data Center and Cognitive Campus solutions, including CloudVision, Security, Endpoint Security, and Real-time Fabric Monitoring. Leverage expertise in leaf-spine designs and overlay technologies (VxLAN/EVPN) to create scalable data center and campus network solutions. Perform hands-on testing of customer PoC setups and designs, provide design guidelines and recommendations, and assist with RFP/RFQ responses. Contribute to white papers and stay current with industry trends; possess expert knowledge across Ethernet, routing protocols, QoS, and network automation using Python and Ansible. | Local/regional focus; hybrid remote options; base pay range $115k-$165k; role supports sales-driven outcomes and customer-facing technology leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in L2/L3 networking design and implementation with a focus on Data Center, Campus, and Wi-Fi solutions
- Expert-level experience with routing and switching, including L2/L3 protocols, as well as overlay technologies such as VxLAN
- Current hands-on experience in designing highly scalable leaf-spine network architectures
- Proven work experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre-Sales SE, or Network Consulting Engineer is preferred
- Expert knowledge of Ethernet, RSTP/MSTP, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, eBGP, VxLAN, Multicast, Spanning Tree, and QoS
- Good understanding of the competitor technology landscape, specifically Cisco and Juniper
- Expert-level knowledge of the industry-standard CLI
- Previous experience building network automation using Python and Ansible is highly desired
- Strong writing skills and ability to create informative white papers on technology and products are highly desired
