Network Support Specialist

Network Support Specialist provides information technology training and support for NHREC staff across three campus sites (Woodside Lane, Kiln Creek, Yorktown Middle School) and Butler Farm site. Responsibilities include receiving and prioritizing work orders, hardware and software troubleshooting, Active Directory management (forest and tree structure, user accounts, passwords, Group Policy, file permissions), after-hours system support, configuring and monitoring physical and virtual servers and enterprise applications, documenting configurations, delivering on-site training for instructional and administrative applications, conducting specialized technology classes, evaluating new technology and prioritizing requests for enhancements, participating in equipment/software evaluations and purchases, and maintaining detailed records of training sessions and participants. Skills emphasis on thorough troubleshooting, understanding TCP/IP and data import/export, Internet/intranet services, planning and coordinating with school staff, developing training materials and manuals, and ability to travel between sites and work a flexible schedule. The role requires an Associate degree in a computer-related field, PC/LAN software proficiency, and a valid Virginia driver's license. The position may involve some local travel and occasional after-hours work.
