Job Summary
Network Specialist needed to design, implement, maintain and support NISC member networks as part of the Networking Infrastructure team. Responsibilities include installation, support, and maintenance of general internal and Member network infrastructure; troubleshooting and resolving network hardware and network-related problems; delivering superior customer support to internal and external customers; supporting customers in all aspects of networking including troubleshooting, training, and ongoing support; monitoring availability, performance, and security of network systems; creating cases and following up on resolution; researching technical problems, resolving issues, and verifying changes or enhancements; participating in staging, installation, configuration, and training for customer equipment onsite and remotely; providing support to Members via ticketing systems; maintaining technical documentation including inventories of hardware, software, and network mapping; participating in developing and delivering training; performing after-hours on-call as needed; leveraging generative AI tools to enhance productivity; commitment to NISC values; and other duties as assigned. Preferred knowledge includes Linux/Windows OS, firewall technologies (SonicWall, Palo Alto), Aruba switching/wireless, TCP/IP, and relevant certifications. Education preferred is an Associate’s degree; 3+ years of experience preferred; certifications such as SNSP/SNSA, CCNA, Linux, Network+ are desirable.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a technology-related field.
- Experience with Network Switching infrastructure, Wireless infrastructure, and firewalls is desired
- Minimum 3+ years of related experience preferred
- Industry recognized certification such as SNSP or SNSA, CCNA, Linux, or Network+ preferred
