Job Summary
Manage and troubleshoot Network Production environments by applying company policies to resolve moderate scope issues across multiple vendor servers. Participate in 24/7 support with global teams, handling traffic queries from ISPs and partners regarding input errors, CRC, capacity, routing, and protocol incidents. Fix hardware and software problems using knowledge of optical (DWDM, CWDM) and IP networking concepts, including BGP, OSPF, and MPLS. Prepare root cause analysis for outages and work with TAC vendors to resolve complex network and server issues. Some weekend work may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university
- 2+ years' related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Understanding of network and traffic peering
- Understanding of fiber-optic technology including cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, and optical transport technologies
- Understanding of preparing root cause analysis for any network and server outages
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to work with service providers, colocation facilities, and ISPs around the world
- Good understanding of: IP networking concepts (IPv4/IPv6, BGP, OSPF, MPLS)
- Knowledgeable on Layer 1 troubleshooting
- Knowledgable in troubleshooting of optical (DWDM, CWDM) and IP network components
- Experience with networking technologies relative to content delivery network, monitoring capacity and peering traffic
- Work on problems of moderate scope
- Receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects
- Participate in 24/7 support with other teams across the globe
- Some weekend work may be required
- Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Builds productive internal and external working relationships
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of preparing root cause analysis for any network and server outages
- Understanding of fiber-optic technology including cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, and optical transport technologies will be advantages
