Job Summary
Terminate, splice, bond, ground, document, and test fiber optic cables and related equipment to ensure maximum operating efficiency. Perform setup, testing, and maintenance for Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) including POTS, DSL, networking services, LANs, and WiFi. Install and maintain network interface devices (NID) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT), while executing skilled troubleshooting from the Main Distribution Frame to the demarcation point. Respond to trouble tickets within acceptable timeframe standards and install Outside Plant facilities according to engineered work orders. Conduct routine preventive maintenance, major repairs, and cable/fiber testing, including locating fiber optic cabling and recording all record changes immediately. Complete inventory replenish requests as needed and perform on-call rotation duties after regular business hours.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- One to two years in the telecommunications industry or related experience
- Physical ability to work in various conditions including, but not limited to adverse weather conditions
- Physical ability to work from a kneeling or standing position for long periods of time
- Physical ability to climb ladders with proper equipment up to 25 feet
- Able to lift and carry loads of up to 75lbs including ladder
- Ability to work with basic hand tools and other specialized equipment with training
- Operate and maintain company vehicle/equipment safely and professionally including a Department of Transportation (DOT) certified bucket truck and trailer
- DOT Certification
- OSHA Certification
- Ability to be professional with customers and fellow associates
- Meet key performance metrics
- Available to work overtime when deemed necessary, may include holidays and weekends
- Perform on-call rotation duties after regular business hours as needed
- Willingness to work as a team and independently
- Available to travel for training as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Some trade school training is desired
