Network Engineer IV

Job Summary
Design and deploy local and wide area network infrastructure technologies to ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability for mission-critical business systems. Troubleshoot major network and system issues, acting as the technical escalation point while mentoring junior engineers and driving cross-functional collaboration. Manage multiple project timelines, document requirements including scope and testing, and validate new hardware configurations for proper performance. Research technology opportunities and represent the engineering department in designing new architectures, operating within a 24x7 environment with potential on-call responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience
- 6+ years of work experience
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language
- Data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport)
- Extensive knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
- Extensive knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
- Extensive knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model, using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations, basic network devices and basic network appliances, and network designing software, such as Visio
- Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced team environment, and learn new technology quickly
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications, Microsoft Office, telephone, copier, fax, and calculator
- 24x7 Network Operations environment
- On-call work
- Occasional travel as required
Desired Qualifications
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Juniper Network Certified Specialist (JNCIS or JNCIP or JNCIE – SP or ENT)
- Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
- Cisco CCIE Service Provider or Enterprise Infrastructure
- Nokia Service Routing Architect (SRA)
- Knowledge of Spectrum's products and services
