Job Summary
Safeguard trading systems infrastructure by monitoring, optimizing, and maintaining wide area networks, cloud environments, and low-latency systems. Drive innovation through new market links and automation tasks while managing contingency plans and providing secondary support to traders and stakeholders. Proactively optimize performance using Cisco, Arista, and cloud technologies, supported by hands-on scripting and packet analysis. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 3-5 years of IT experience in support, optimization, and deployments across wide area networks, branch offices, and cloud platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Professional Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent
- At least 3-5 years of experience in IT (support/optimization/deployments) to cover wide area networks, branch offices, cloud, multicast routing, security devices (firewalls) and wireless networks
- Strong knowledge of Cisco & Arista technologies (L2/L3 switches and routers, firewalls and wireless etc.)
- Understanding the specific IT needs of our organization (low latency, high performance, redundancy and high availability) and excel at resolving issues on the fly
- Experience with Unix/Linux command line and networking stack
- Hands-on scripting experience (Bash/Shell, Python and Salt)
- Knowledge in Cloud platform environments (AWS and GCP)
- Knowledge of Data Center and cabling standards
- Understanding of Project Management methodology and best practices
- Able to produce quality documentation on network design, diagrams and support materials
Desired Qualifications
- Desired experience with support electronic trading systems within capital markets firm or equivalent industry (APAC regional knowledge)
- Desire to adopt new technologies and ability to contribute as a team player
- Network related certification (example CCNP) is a plus
- Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, multicast routing [PIM SM/DM/SSM]
- Knowledge on switching concepts: VLAN, Spanning-tree protocol (RSTP, MSTP), Port-Channel, VRRP/HSRP, CEF, TCAM etc.
- Time synchronization protocols NTP, PTP (grandmaster, boundary clock, offset) and GPS
- TCP analysis and traffic optimization with concepts as TCP Slow-start, Dup-Acks, Retransmits, SACK, Checksum and Seq Number
- Security (VPN, IPSEC, SSL, Access-Lists)
- Network Monitoring (Zabbix, SNMP, Netflow and Grafana)
- WAN Connectivity (MPLS, Ethernet and DWDM)
- Packet decoding and analysis tools such as tcpdump and wireshark
