Job Summary
Position: Network Engineer II (Lab Environment) on a contract basis to architect, deploy, and maintain a dedicated network lab environment used for testing and validation. The role emphasizes configuring and integrating lab infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls), performing advanced troubleshooting, coordinating lab equipment delivery and setup, supporting lab testbeds for software validation, maintaining accurate inventory, providing console access and managing system controls, and documenting configurations and procedures. Collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams and a strong foundation in networking fundamentals are required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in network engineering or lab environments
- Proven hands-on experience with network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including: IP addressing (DHCP, SLAAC, Static IP)
- VLAN configuration and subnetting
- Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Juniper JUNOS
- Familiarity with network management and access protocols, including SSH, Telnet, HTTP/HTTPS
- Working knowledge of hardware troubleshooting, console access, and system modules
- Basic understanding of power infrastructure, including PSUs, PDUs, and voltage requirements
- Experience utilizing inventory management systems for asset tracking
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
