Job Summary
Incumbent coordinates and performs Telecommunications engineering evaluations, design, security, testing, deployment, planning, and project coordination for existing and new Telecommunications and IT products; designs, configures, maintains, upgrades, and troubleshoots network routers/switches (Cisco preferred); implements layer 3 routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP); configures LAN/WAN for performance and security; coordinates with business units to install/configure equipment on site; creates system documentation (Topology Diagrams, Design Docs, Technical Procedures); adheres to standards (NERC CIP / FERC / NIST); supports strategic planning, project estimates, and program communications; requires collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or) Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years of hands-on Telecommunications equipment/configuration experience
- Telecommunications Engineer II requires Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience (or Associate’s Degree and 5 years’ experience)
- Telecommunications Engineer III requires Bachelor’s degree and 4 years’ experience (or Associate’s Degree and 7 years’ experience)
- Telecommunications Engineer IV requires Bachelor’s degree and 6 years’ experience (or Associate’s Degree and 9 years’ experience)
- Licenses/Certifications: Professional Engineer; Cisco vendor certifications such as CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent; unescorted NERC or CNS facility access may be required
