Network and Systems Administrator

Job Summary

Support escalated network and connectivity issues for students, faculty, and staff across campus and residence facilities. Perform routine hardware and software maintenance, including configuration backups, patches, and security updates for wired and wireless infrastructure. Troubleshoot root causes for network problems while mentoring Level 1 support staff on troubleshooting techniques. Assist with network security protocol implementation, cybersecurity planning, and backup procedures under supervision. Maintain accurate documentation, inventory records, and vendor coordination for network equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in MIS, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network and computer hardware and software
  • Experience in an educational setting
  • Good working knowledge of networking concepts and technical competence
  • Ability to interact positively with students, faculty, and staff who possess a wide range of educational and technical backgrounds
  • Ability to work within established policies with general supervision
  • Strong communication skills
  • Customer-oriented approach
  • Broad knowledge of network technology, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, and Wi-Fi standards
  • Working knowledge of Cisco networking equipment, hardware, and software
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Server
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls and VPNs
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA)
  • Ability to traverse the campus, stoop, bend, and climb stairs to access network equipment in various locations
  • Ability to lift approximately 10-20 pounds
  • Finger dexterity for keyboard and equipment use
  • Excellent motor skills
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand
  • Full time, non-exempt position status
  • Forty hours per week (M-F) availability
  • Willingness and ability to work occasional nights and weekends
  • Varying schedule flexibility when required
  • Adherence to all University policies
  • Willingness to respect and support the Catholic and Marianist identity of Chaminade University of Honolulu
  • Understanding of and respect for the University's designation as an institution that serves students of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island ancestry

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in an educational setting (preferred)
