Job Summary
Troubleshoot and develop solutions for LAN/WAN protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP while configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting the IP/MPLS backbone network. Assist with WAN transport system installations, develop standardized testing and cutover plans, and establish remote monitoring procedures to ensure reliable operation. Collect and analyze networking metrics to identify sub-standard performance, configure QoS policies, and report security incidents for trending. Provide first-level technical support to deployed users, coordinate with external agencies for outage resolution, and act as a consultant to optimize WAN transport networks. This full-time position operates in a 24/7/365 support environment at Shaw AFB, requiring travel to CONUS or OCONUS sites for TDY support.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in network support
- Associate's degree in a related field
- Must be Security+ certified (or hold an equivalent certification in compliance with DoD 8570 IAT Level II)
- Must be CCNA certified
- Must hold the ITIL Foundations certification or be able to obtain the certification within 60 days of hire
- Must have firewall administration experience
- Experience providing LAN/WAN enterprise support
- Must possess experience and demonstrate an understanding of Microsoft server installation, roles, Active Directory, storage, performance management, and maintenance
- Experience supporting DoD projects
- Must have strong communication skills and be able to interact professionally within all levels of an organization
- Must be able to provide support in a 24/7/365 environment including occasionally covering shifts outside of the assigned shift and/or providing after hours, weekend, or holiday support as needed on a rotational basis
- Must be able to travel to CONUS or OCONUS sites to provide TDY support
- Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance
