Job Summary
The Network Administrator Tier 2 will implement, manage, and administer the networks for the government-focused client, performing network assessments, configuring routers/switches/firewalls and security appliances, monitoring performance, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with the Network Engineer. The role requires ensuring adherence to security standards, installing security tools (vulnerability scanners, IDS, SIEM), administering user accounts and access, monitoring logs and backups, applying patches, and providing continuous security/performance monitoring. It is a remote-hybrid position based in Washington, DC with time split between office and remote work and requires ability to obtain a Public Trust. Exceptional communication skills and experience in regulated/government environments are desirable.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration
- Experience with network hardware and software (routers, switches, firewalls, security appliances)
- Familiarity with network security best practices, policies, and procedures
- Perform network assessments, requirements analysis, implementation and configuration of network hardware/software adhering to security standards
- Collaborate with Network Engineer on network design and recommendations
- Monitor network performance and prepare test reports
- Configure routers, switches, firewalls, security appliances per approved design
- Install/configure security tools like vulnerability scanners, IDS, SIEM, network management software
- Administer user accounts and network resource access, assist with client device setup
- Monitor systems/services, log activities, backups, recovery testing
- Monitor logs and investigate authentication/hardware/admin activity anomalies
- Apply network equipment security patches as procedures
- Implement network monitoring tools for ongoing security/performance monitoring
- Exceptional communication skills for liaison with stakeholders
- Experience in government or regulated environments (preferred)
- Knowledge of network automation and scripting (preferred)
- Familiarity with cloud networking technologies and virtualization (preferred)
