Job Summary
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and collect data on low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems at industrial and commercial customer sites. Perform instrument transformer tests, power transformer testing, cable testing, automatic transfer switch troubleshooting, and switchgear and circuit breaker testing. Conduct moderately complex relay calibration and power metering while traveling across the state and bordering states. Rotate emergency on-call duty to respond to customer emergencies. Requires valid driver's license, ability to travel including overnight and international trips, and proficiency in PC skills and Microsoft Excel.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited 2 year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or a EE Degree from an ABET accredited college
- NETA Certification (III or IV) or similar
- Electrician license
- At least 5 or more years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting
- Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with PowerDB
- Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures
- OSHA 30 hour training
- MSHA training
- NFPA 70-E training
- CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training
- Ability to drive daily locally/regionally
- Availability for periodic overnight travel
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Ability to pass periodic, unannounced random drug tests
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- Ability to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to pass a fit for duty physical exam
- Valid driver's license
- Good driving record
- Availability for regular overnight domestic travel
- Availability for occasional international travel
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without need for employer sponsored visa
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime
- Willingness to work occasional weekends, holidays and nights
- Willingness to travel
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in testing both electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
- Military experience and training (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)
- PowerDB experience
- OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training
- U.S. passport & TWIC card
