Job Summary
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and collect data on low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems across industrial and commercial customer sites. Perform instrument transformer tests, power transformer testing, cable testing, and switchgear and circuit breaker diagnostics. Calibrate moderately complex relays and power meters, and resolve automatic transfer switch issues. Rotate emergency on-call duty to respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner. Travel locally, regionally, and internationally, including overnight trips, while adhering to all electrical safety procedures and driving requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited 2 year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or a EE Degree from an ABET accredited college
- NETA Certification (III or IV) or similar
- Electrician license
- At least 5 or more years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting
- Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with PowerDB
- Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures
- OSHA 30 hour training
- MSHA training
- NFPA 70-E training
- CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training
- Ability to drive daily locally/regionally
- Availability for periodic overnight travel
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Ability to pass periodic, unannounced random drug tests
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- Ability to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to pass a fit for duty physical exam
- Valid driver's license
- Good driving record
- Availability for regular overnight domestic travel
- Availability for occasional international travel
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without need for employer sponsored visa
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime
- Willingness to work occasional weekends, holidays and nights
- Willingness to travel
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in testing both electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
- Military experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)
- PowerDB experience
- OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training
- U.S. passport & TWIC card
