NETA Field Technician

Job Summary
Conduct electrical testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-voltage substation equipment including protective relaying, circuit breakers, transformers, and grounding systems. Perform problem identification and analysis to make corrective recommendations, then generate technical reports detailing services and actions taken. Represent the company professionally when interfacing with clients and communicate regularly with management regarding project status and resource scheduling. Prioritize safety with zero tolerance for violations, while maintaining valid driver's license and clean driving record. Requires NETA certification (Level II–IV), 2+ years high-voltage experience, and ability to lift 75 pounds. Open to travel (50%+) and flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and nights.
Required Qualifications
- NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV)
- AAS in Electrical or Electronics Technology or equivalent experience in the high voltage industry
- Minimum of 2+ years experience in the high voltage industry
- Ability to lift up 75 pounds
- Pre-employment drug testing and random drug screenings
- Pre-employment criminal background check
- Must be able to pass a physical exam
- Must be open to travel, with a minimum of 50%
- Valid drivers license
- clean driving record
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, as well as occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
Desired Qualifications
- Power DB knowledge
- Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals
- Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation
- Broad knowledge of control and protection systems
- Knowledge of high-voltage electric field theory
- Broad knowledge of electrical code and standards (NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE and ANSI)
- Broad knowledge of civil / structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI)
- Broad knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment
- Broad knowledge of ground grid theory and design
- Effective oral and written communications
- Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
- Knowledge of drafting standards
- Working in a team environment
- Communicating effectively with co-workers
