Job Summary
Nephrology Registered Veterinary Technician needed to join our Nephrology/Urology team in Boulder, CO. The role focuses on Internal Medicine with a special interest in Nephrology/Urology, full-time schedules (Tue–Fri, 7am–5:30pm or 8am–6:30pm). Responsibilities include maintaining medical records, client communications, scheduling from intake to discharge, assisting with surgical/endoscopy procedures, collaborating with ICU teams for nephrology patient care, and functioning as part of an innovative, collaborative team. Requires RVT with 2+ years of experience, preferably in a specialty hospital and Internal Medicine; duties include venipuncture, catheter placement, cystocentesis, endoscopy procedures, anesthesia monitoring, ultrasound, dosage calculations, prescription management, and effective communication with staff and clients. Required Qualifications
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with at least 2 years of applicable experience
- At least 1 year of experience within a specialty veterinary hospital preferred, preferably within the Internal Medicine department
- Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures and terminology
- Safely handle, lift, and restrain dogs/cats; stand for extended periods
- Prepare estimates, manage charges, and conduct client financial discussions
- Perform venipuncture and place peripheral IV catheters using aseptic technique
- Conduct ultrasound-guided cystocentesis, urinary catheterization (M/F), and monitor anesthesia/sedation (ASA 1–3)
- Experience with flexible/rigid endoscope maintenance and endoscopy procedures (cystoscopy a plus; training available)
- Basic surgical experience preferred (training provided)
- Complete TPRs and patient histories for canine/feline patients
- Administer medications via multiple routes; accurately calculate dosages, volumes, and CRIs
- Manage prescriptions: fill, verify dosing, process refills, and coordinate with outside pharmacies
- Communicate effectively with technicians, assistants, doctors, and staff
- Detail-oriented multitasker with strong decision-making skills in fast-paced settings
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required; multiple languages a plus
