Job Summary
Nepali Distance Learning Associate Language Instructor will provide virtual foreign language instruction and regional/cultural instruction for a Live Virtual Distance Learning (DL) program. Responsibilities include delivering instruction across Listening, Reading, and Speaking (L/R/S) to improve proficiency as measured by the DLPT, ACTFL, or OPI; developing blended-learning lessons; creating and delivering lesson plans adapted to ILR 0+ to 3; reviewing and grading assignments; maintaining a professional virtual learning environment; and collaborating with Managers and Coordinators to address curriculum gaps. Required qualifications include US citizenship, native or near-native fluency in the target language with ILR 3/3/3 or equivalent, virtual instructional experience, knowledge of the culture related to the language region, ability to tailor materials for blended learning, and access to a computer with necessary peripherals and a reliable high-speed internet connection. English language qualifications include demonstrated proficiency through ILR, TOEFL, ECL, or ACTFL OPI. Desired qualifications include experience with online platforms (e.g., CL-150, Adobe Connect, Canvas, Moodle) and a Bachelor's Degree.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen
- Educated native speaker of the foreign language or a near-native foreign language capability in listening, reading, and speaking with ILR 3/3/3 or equivalent
- Experience in providing various levels of foreign language instruction through a virtual environment
- Understanding of the cultural, social, and political environment of the foreign language region
- Experience in creating blended learning lessons and the ability to tailor existing materials to fit the customer’s needs and expectations
- Instructor must have access to a computer with Windows, Webcam, Headset with a Microphone, a Cellular Phone or Smart Tablet, and a High-Speed Internet connection
- Target Language Qualifications: ILR level 2+ or ACTFL Advanced-High or higher
- Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) or 2-skill OPI from the DLIFLC or ACTFL-certified interview or Defense Language Proficiency Test
