Job Summary
Neonatal Pediatric Hospitalist role at Elmhurst Hospital (IL) seeking an experienced physician to provide comprehensive care for newborns across L&D, nursery, and NICU. Responsibilities include autonomous reporting and collaboration with neonatology, performing procedures (PPV, intubation, central lines, chest tubes), maintaining accurate medical records, participating in quality improvement and policy development, and contributing to clinical research. Requires IL MD license (DEA and Illinois controlled substances), pediatric residency or master's in pediatric specialty, BLS and NRP, ABP eligibility, and 5+ years of IP newborn or relevant pediatric acute care experience. Proficient in airway management, central line placement, chest tube placement, use of neonatal equipment, and ventilators; commitment to patient care across a 24/7 staffed unit. Required Qualifications
- MD Licensure in the State of IL required
- Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required
- Completion of accredited pediatric residency or Master's level program in specialty area
- BLS for Healthcare Provider and NRP certifications required
- American Board of Pediatrics eligible
- Experience: 5+ years of IP Newborn (highly preferred); or other relevant acute care pediatric experience preferred
- Newborn airway management including intubation
- Central line placement (umbilical and PCVC)
- Newborn chest tube placement
- Stethoscope
- Monitors
- Small baby equipment
- Flow inflating bag
- Ventilators (HFJV, HFOV, cMV, NIMV, iNO, etc)
- Sterile procedures
- Therapeutic hypothermia
- Providing appropriate medical care to newborn patients in L&D, newborn nursery, and ICU
- Maintaining medical records
- Procedural tasks as needed (PPV, intubation, central lines, chest tubes)
- Participating in self and peer evaluation to improve quality of care
- Collaborating on policies/procedures
- QI monitoring and research opportunities
