Job Summary
Neonatal Pediatric Hospitalist position in Elmhurst, IL responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to newborn patients in L&D, newborn nursery, and NICU during shifts, with autonomous practice and collaboration within the neonatal team. Key duties include delivery room resuscitation, management of common newborn diagnoses, prolonged care for late preterm infants, maintaining accurate medical records, performing procedures (PPV, intubation, central lines, chest tubes), participating in quality improvement and policy development, serving as a clinical resources for staff, and engaging in potential clinical research. Requires IL MD license, DEA and state controlled substances license, pediatric residency, BLS and NRP certifications, Board eligibility, and 5+ years of IP newborn or relevant acute pediatric experience. Proficiency in newborn airway management, central lines, chest tube placement, and use of neonatal equipment (stethoscope, monitors, small-baby equipment, ventilators, therapeutic hypothermia) is expected. Required Qualifications
- MD Licensure in the State of IL
- Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required
- Education: Completion of accredited pediatric residency or Master's level program in specialty area
- Certification: BLS for Healthcare Provider and NRP certifications required
- Certification in specialty: American Board of Pediatrics eligible
- Experience: 5+ years of IP Newborn (highly preferred); or other relevant acute care pediatric experience preferred
- Special Knowledge and Skills Required: Newborn airway management including intubation; Central line placement (umbilical and PCVC); Newborn chest tube placement
