Job Summary
Provide direct, high-quality care to neonates in the NICU, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of critically ill newborns and preterm infants. Conduct patient rounds, progress notes, and care plans while assisting in procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and lumbar punctures. Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, and nursing staff to ensure a multidisciplinary approach, and provide education and support to families regarding infant care and development. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical protocols and evidence-based practices. This PRN role involves flexible scheduling with 12- or 24-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in a Level IV NICU with an average daily census of approximately 40 patients.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) with a focus in Neonatal Nursing or related specialty
- Current licensure as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in the State of Georgia or eligibility to obtain Georgia licensure
- Board Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP)
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or related neonatal care setting
- Strong clinical and procedural skills in neonatology
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of NICU-specific protocols and evidence-based practices
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- PRN (as needed) availability
- Availability for 12-hour or 24-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in a Level III or Level IV NICU
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- BLS certification
