Job Summary
Provide direct, high-quality care to neonates in the NICU, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of critically ill newborns and preterm infants. Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, and nursing staff to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Assist in procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and lumbar punctures as needed. Conduct patient rounds, document progress notes, and provide education and support to families regarding infant care and development. Participate in quality improvement initiatives while adhering to clinical protocols and evidence-based practices. Offer coverage for scheduled PRN shifts, including weekends, holidays, nights, and urgent staffing needs. Manage an average of 8-12 patients per shift within a Level IV NICU setting.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) with a focus in Neonatal Nursing or related specialty
- Current licensure as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in the State of Georgia or eligibility to obtain Georgia licensure
- Board Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP)
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or related neonatal care setting
- Strong clinical and procedural skills in neonatology
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of NICU-specific protocols and evidence-based practices
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- PRN (as needed) position availability
- Availability for 12-hour or 24-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in a Level III or Level IV NICU
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- BLS certification
