Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive physical assessments, establish medical diagnoses, and order or interpret diagnostic tests including X-rays, MRI, CT scans, and echocardiograms. Perform invasive procedures such as intubation, chest tube placement, central line insertion, and lumbar punctures while managing ventilator settings, respiratory therapy, and fluid requirements. Initiate and adjust parenteral and enteral nutrition, administer blood transfusions, and provide emergency resuscitative measures until a neonatologist is available. Lead the regional neonatal transport team across a 150-mile radius, providing support via ambulance, helicopter, or fixed-wing aircraft. Work 24-hour shifts with 3 shifts every two weeks in a Level 3 NICU serving high-risk newborns, collaborating daily with multidisciplinary staff and families in a family-centered approach.
Required Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
- Certified as Family Nurse Practitioner with the American Nurses Association
- Current BLS certification
- Current NRP certification
- NCC as a neonatal nurse practitioner
- Candidate must apply for and be granted appropriate clinical privileges through MMC's normal credentialing processes before rendering services
- Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella
- MHC also requires all employees to receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption
Desired Qualifications
- Neonatal transport experience preferred
- NRP instructor status is encouraged
- Completed advanced training program
