Job Summary
BRIDGE Teacher provides instruction, assessment, and program planning for identified special education scholars with primary learning disabilities, autism, speech-language impairments, and other health impairments in a self-contained BRIDGE setting. Develop and teach engaging lessons aligned to NCS curricula with high differentiation, drive academic outcomes through data review and high-leverage instructional moves, develop individualized goals via formal/informal assessments, implement IEPs and behavior plans, collaborate with staff and families, attend IEP meetings, maintain orderly learning environments, and support state testing accommodations in New York State ELA/Math exams. Instruct and direct assigned paraeducators, participate in weekly Case Conference and grade-level planning meetings, and pursue ongoing professional growth. Educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree and NYS certification in Elementary or Special Education (or eligibility with certification pathway support), with two years of urban teaching experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required)
- Certification in New York State Elementary or Special Education or eligible out of state certification (or willingness to work towards permanent certification) (required)
- Two years of teaching experience in an urban setting (preferred)
