Neighbor Support Specialist - (FT, Mon - Fri, 8am - 4:30 pm)

Job Summary
Provide front-line neighbor engagement at the Day Services Center, conducting triage, safety de-escalation, and campus walk-throughs to assist individuals experiencing homelessness. Respond to neighbor questions, facilitate access to resources, and intervene in conflicts or overdose situations using trauma-informed techniques. Enforce campus policies, maintain safe working conditions, and communicate concerns to supervisors. Submit accurate incident reports and participate in case conferences regarding complaints or bans. Assist program leaders with campus operations, including opening/closing procedures and lunch-hour flow management, while becoming certified in the Homeless Management and Information Services database.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of two years of relatable experience in human services
- Knowledge of Harm Reduction practices
- Knowledge of issues related to homelessness
- Effective intervention techniques
- De-escalation techniques
- Teamwork skills
- Experience working with adults with mental health and/or substance use issues
- Experience working with homeless populations
- Experience working in a homeless shelter
- Ability to plan and carry out shift activities
- Effective oral communication
- Effective written communication
- Ability to interact appropriately with service partners, volunteers, visitors, and neighbors
- Attitude and courtesy
- Ability to cooperate
- Attention to concerns, ideas, and issues expressed by others

- Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time
- Monday - Friday, Tuesday - Saturday, or Sunday-Thursday schedule availability
- Availability to work holidays as required
- Flexible time availability
Desired Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of relatable experience in human services, or a combination of relevant experience and education to effectively perform the position's expectations
