Job Summary
Regional Psychiatrist responsible for overseeing psychiatric clinical programs in Nebraska, providing clinical oversight of nurse practitioners and physician assistants, and collaborating with the Chief Medical Officer, facility leadership, and interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations, providing medication management and adjusting dosages, maintaining medical records, coordinating with therapists, psychologists, and social workers, participating in treatment team meetings, and traveling hybridly to facilities to ensure high-quality care. Licensure requirements include MD or DO from an accredited medical school with unrestricted licensure to prescribe controlled substances, and board affiliation for prescribing controlled substances. The role includes partnership with operational leaders to oversee clinical relations with facilities, and engagement with nursing staff and families to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a residency training program in psychiatry
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school
- Unrestricted licensure as a physician in the applicable state, including ability to prescribe controlled substances
- Licensed by the applicable State Board of Pharmacy in good standing to prescribe controlled substances
- Knowledge of general medicine and psychiatry; hospital and clinic organization, management, and procedures
- Ability to skillfully diagnose and treat severely and persistently mentally ill patients
- Ability to analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action
- Ability to prepare records and reports
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to maintain objectivity and confidentiality
