Job Summary
Conduct fluorescent penetrant inspections of weldments, castings, and tubing to detect discontinuities and determine acceptance or rejection in accordance with company drawings and NAS410 standards. Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment, perform basic machine preventative maintenance, and interpret results against applicable codes and specifications. Guide level I technicians and assistants while ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations and reporting all test results. Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management. This role involves working the FPI 3rd shift and requires a current or past Level 2 Liquid Penetrant certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must possess a current or past certification in accordance with NAS410 as a certified Level 2 Liquid Penetrant inspector
- Must provide documented PTL2 qualification and training records
- 6 months demonstrated experience in the use of basic hand tools for setting up equipment, fixtures, and parts for inspection
- Pass the eye test requirements per NAS410 (Near vision 20/25 and color perception)
- Be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on occasion
Desired Qualifications
- Multiple Certifications held in NDT
- Technical degree or Vocational degree in NDT
- Proficient in the use of shop math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and use of fractions and decimals) with the ability to learn and apply trigonometry and geometry
- Understands repair process and service induced discontinuities related to aviation hardware overhauled and repaired
- Experience in basic computing
- Experience performing basic CNC and/or Robotic programming used for inspections
- Experienced in the use of basic shop mechanical measurement equipment such as mic's, verniers, dial indicators, or length scales
- Knowledge of material and chemical handling practices
- Ability to perform basic machine preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment to known standards
- Experience operating material handling and lifting devices, including ability to obtain forklift license if required
