Job Summary
Develop and qualify radiographic testing procedures, techniques, and work instructions per NAS-410, ASTM, and customer specifications. Interpret codes, standards, and requirements to approve or disapprove inspection results while providing technical oversight for Level I and II personnel. Lead corrective action reviews on audit findings, conduct performance reviews for certified inspectors, and train Level I and II staff to maintain certification status. Manage equipment calibration, maintain Level III certification, and interface with customers for technical guidance. Ensure compliance with radiation safety programs and regulatory guidelines including NRC and OSHA. Occasionally work irregular hours, including nights or weekends, to support project schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Level 3 ASNT Certification
- currently active NAS410 Level III certifications
- Minimum 5–8 years of aerospace NDT experience
- at least 2 years at Level III
- Proven expertise in both film-based and digital radiography (CR, DDA)
- Experience with Nadcap NDT accreditation and OEM audits (e.g., Boeing, Rolls-Royce, GE, Pratt & Whitney)
- Familiarity with NAS 410, ASTM (1742, E1032), SAE, and AS9100 radiography standards
- In-depth knowledge of digital image processing, image quality indicators (IQIs), and density / sensitivity requirements
- ability to Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
- ability to Lift, carry, and move equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- ability to Work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity
- ability to Maintain visual acuity for detailed image analysis and defect interpretation
- ability to Occasionally work irregular hours, including nights or weekends, to support project schedules
- ability to Perform both technical oversight and hands-on support
