Job Summary
Conduct NDT examinations of materials per NAVSEA procedures and codes while setting up and utilizing testing equipment. Interface with department managers and clients to determine scope and priorities, then prepare written instructions and report examination results. Exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of trainees while working independently to support team members. Actively participate in ATS and Client Safety Programs. Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by supervisors. Work shifts up to 12 hours/day and 7 days/week in shipyard environments involving heights, confined spaces, and operating equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Level II Technicians – Meet the minimum requirements of an NDT Level II UTSW Technician
- Certification of Completion of UT Level I and UT Level II/UTSW Level II Classroom training meeting SNT-TC-1A
- Documented On the Job Training signed by an SNT-TC-1A Level III or Supervisor
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Ability to learn and comply with all company policies and procedures
- Excellent communication skills written and verbal
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a required extensive background check for access to the shipyard
- U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. lawful permanent residents, persons granted refugee status, or persons granted asylum in the United States)
- Ability to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection
- Ability to work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, man-baskets, etc.
- Ability to work in confined spaces which will require crawling, stooping, climbing, etc.
- Ability to work in around operating equipment and industrial environments
- Work shifts up to 12 hours/day and 7 days/week
- Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- NAVSEA and/or shipyard work experience preferred
- Additional NDT certs (VT/MT) are a plus but not required
